Leonard Alexis Daligé de Fontenay was a landscape painter born in Paris on April 29, 1813, who died in the same city in 1892. 

When he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, he had Hersent and Watelet as masters. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon of 1833 and distinguished himself in 1841 with a third class medal and in 1844 a second class medal. 

The work of this artist is composed almost exclusively of paintings from nature during his many trips throughout France. 

As a founding member of the Taylor association, which still exists under the name of the Taylor Foundation, he worked for mutual aid and knowledge between artists and was the chairman of the company's accounting commission for many years. 

His paintings are exhibited in the Fine Arts Museums of Montpellier, Nantes, Rouen and Troyes, as well as in the municipal museum of Bayeux.
